Goals
I am an aspiring professor of political science, specializing in the sub-fields of international relations and comparative politics. I am particularly interested in sources of sovereignty and the relationship between the state and its people. To drill down even further, I am most curious about how independence movements manifest themselves differently around the world. I am also motivated to be as strong as an instructor as I can be. I find immense fulfillment in helping others reach their full potential. A PhD is the next major milestone, though I will be spending at least this year working and gaining practical experience.

Education
I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, double-majoring in Political Science and International Studies. I was fortunate enough to have earned the Goodrich Scholarship, a competitive need-based scholarship that prizes diversity. Its required humanities curriculum forces its students to engage with tough questions surrounding racial and cultural differences. I was also in the Honors program, which culminated in a 70-page capstone project. During this time I was also a teaching assistant for a semester and presented at five academic conferences through my position at the campus writing center.

At Villanova I earned a Master of Arts in Political Science, complimented with a certificate in International Relations. I completed this degree on a research assistantship, which covered my tuition and fees. I held this assistantship for two years, assisting the professor in updating previous publications. I also volunteered as an editor for “Concept,” a cross-disciplinary academic journal produced by Villanova each year.

Personal
I grew up in Bennington, Nebraska, a suburb of Omaha that serves as the last stop before paved streets become dirt roads. My family also has roots in Iowa, and many still live on that side of the river. With this being the case, I consider myself a duel citizen of both states and support the Hawkeyes on Saturdays. I was an active athlete in high school, playing both basketball and soccer, and also competed in speech where I made it as far as districts.

My education has brought me to the great city of Philadelphia. I landed in the suburb of Manayunk, an older neighborhood which features great nightlife at the cost of narrow roads and steep hills. Before COVID, I could be found exploring Old City where Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and other historical sites live alongside fantastic museums, such as the Constitution Center (my personal favorite). I also held a season ticket for the Philadelphia Union, the city’s MLS team, and was fortunate enough to be in the stands for most of their best season to date.
